How do we experience time? Engaging with Jesuit values. Students will read and analyze literary models to explore narrative techniques and then produce their own writing, partaking in peer revision. Requirements include informal responses, three formal essays, and a final. Advanced language skills and flexibility with advanced sentence structures, vocabulary, and idiomatic expressions are stressed so that students develop correct, clear, and coherent self-expression.
The course is open to second-semester freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors, although incoming freshmen are always welcome to tutor as volunteers and take the course at a later date. Dual listed with THR This interdisciplinary course, team-taught by members of the English and Theatre Departments, offers a performance-oriented view of Shakespeare’s plays.
